Antioch Volunteer Fire Department is always looking for dedicated men and women for firefighter assistance in addition to other administrative positions within the department.

Why Should I Volunteer?
Volunteering provides its own rewards and opportunities. Many volunteers do what they do as a way of giving back to the community, while others volunteer for a sense of accomplishment in fighting fires and rescuing persons in harms way.

What Does It Take?
Firefighting is hot, dirty and tiring work that takes dedicated men and women to accomplish. Additionally, firefighters (although well trained) are often exposed to unknown hazards and risks and must be prepared for any potential situation on each call.

What Are the Qualifications?
Firefighters must be at least 18 years of age (cadets must be at least 16 years of age), be in good physical condition, and be of sound mind and body. Monthly firefighter training is conducted at Antioch V.F.D. However, prior to actively participating in emergency responses and live fire situations, all firefighters are required to complete the Georgia Basic Firefighter Training Course required by the State of Georgia.

What If I Do Not Want To Fight Fires? What Else Can I Do?
Antioch V.F.D. has many non-firefighter duties that range from administrative support to firefighter support on the scene. Examples of administrative duties may include Equipment Officer, Fire Prevention, Secretary, Public Relations, and Treasurer. Other non-physical fire scene duties may include Rehabilitation Coordinator, Safety Officer and Nurse.

What Supplies Am I Required To Have?
Firefighters and other volunteer supplies are provided by Antioch V.F.D. as deemed necessary by the department. All new firefighters are provided the appropriate personal protective equipment necessary to respond to emergency situations. Should firefighters or other volunteers leave the department for any reason, all materials supplied by Antioch V.F.D. should be immediately returned to the station equipment officer.
