A.V.F.D. Firefighters Attend 4th Annual Georgia State Firefighters Weekend
Several Antioch V.F.D. firefighters attended the 4th annual Georgia State Firefighters Weekend. The annual event is held at the Georgia Fire Academy located in Forsyth, GA. During this three day event, firefighters are privileged to attend classroom as well as hands-on training classes not offered throughout the year.
In addition to firefighter training, memorial services for Georgia's fallen firefighters are held at this annual event. This years services recognized the loss of six fallen firefighters, one being Ellerslie V.F.D.'s Captain Kevin Joe Foster. Captain Foster was fatally injured November 12, 2005 in route to a call after his apparatus left the road and struck a tree. The Foster family as well as firefighters from surrounding Harris County fire departments attended the memorial services in honor of Captain Foster and fellow firefighters.
