Fire Extinguisher & Sprinkler System Training Held at Antioch V.F.D.

Students in the Firefighter Module 1 class participated in extinguisher and sprinkler training. Students took part in classroom training to include extinguisher and sprinkler awareness, followed by hands-on training on how to work with and wedge sprinkler heads closed, if necessary. This allows firefighters the opportunity to save contents from excessive water damage after a fire is extinguished and it is deemed safe.

Firefighters also took part in a few quick-dress competitions to see who could get completely dressed in full firefighter gear the quickest and be in a position to safely enter a hazardous situation. The goal for this exercise is two minutes or less.

Below are pictures of the quick-dress competition and firefighters learning to work with the sprinkler head.
