It is estimated that approximately 1,000 local residents attended the first annual Block Party at the Backwater Plaza Sunday May 15, 2005. This party, coordinated by the Antioch V.F.D. Auxiliary identified as the Firebirds, was established to benefit Antioch V.F.D.
On hand were many games for children and adults. Many prizes were awarded throughout the day. There was also an opportunity to win a 2005 Saturn Vue provided by Jay Auto Mall of Columbus, GA. In addition to the great food, attendees were entertained throughout the afternoon by local musicians, including upcoming musician Garrett Miles.
Antioch V.F.D. would like to thank the Firebirds (coordinated by Marilyn Buice) for their tireless efforts in planning this event. We would like to thank everyone that attended in support of Antioch V.F.D. Because of you, we were able to raise approximately $12,700.
Additional sponsors and supporters include Down Home Cafe', Pat's Backwater Restaurant, TK's Backwater Grill, Michelle's Mini Market, The Hardware Store, Jaime's Pizza, Backwater Video, Design Group, J.
