A.V.F.D. Congratulates Two New
Certified Firefighters

A.V.F.D. congratulates firefighters Scott Baker and Dave Beckwith on their successful completion of the Georgia Basic Firefighter Module 1 class and test. This training course is required by the State of Georgia for all volunteers assisting on fire scenes and in other emergency response situations.

Over the course of several months, Scott and Dave participated in the training course hosted by A.V.F.D. They were educated on and participated in hands-on training in the following areas:

  • Fire Department Operations
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Safety
  • Fire Alarms
  • Communication
  • Fire Behavior
  • Fire Control
  • Ladders
  • Ropes
  • Ventilation
  • Forcible Entry
  • Search & Rescue
  • Water Supply
  • Hose Streams & Appliances
  • Salvage
  • Overhaul
  • Portable Extinguishers
  • Sprinkler Systems
  • First Aid
  • CRP & AED
  • Live Fire Training

  • Interested volunteers are encouraged to attend our monthly business meetings, held the first Monday of each month at 8:00 pm at Station 1 (located at the intersection of Lick Skillet Rd. and GA HWY 219/River Rd.). Here you can meet our current members, ask questions, and complete a volunteer application. Interested volunteers are also welcomed at any scheduled training.

    Unless otherwise advised, training sessions are held at station 1 and begin promptly at the scheduled time.

    Daytime training sessions begin at 9:00 am, and on average last 4 hours.
    Evening training sessions begin at 7:00 pm, and on average last 2 hours.
